There is blood and puss in milk
If you are thinking about any form of fitness or exercise, you need to think about your diet as well. I dont even like the word diet, so lets think of your nutrition.
There is blood and puss in milk…
By now, you should be aware of BGV or Bovine Growth Hormone. Like most things in the food industry, cows have been forced to over produce. Why over produce? Because more cows making more milk equals more money. It is that simple. How can a cow over produce? They cant, unless we happen to lend them a hand. Intro Bovine growth Hormone. Its just what you are thinking. Its a hormone that makes the cow grow and produce more milk than it would naturally.
Whats the big deal?
Aside from the fact that you ingest everything the cow is injected with (think about how many warnings are on medications about breast feeding), there are a couple other problems. I would think that would be enough right there honestly, but we shall go on.
Long has it been since cows were milked with the gentle hand of a farm maiden. Stay with me, dont visualize that too much. Anyway, what I’m saying is cows arent milked by people anymore. They are hooked up to machines straight out of a sci fi movie. But the main thing is that they are over milked. They produce more milk because of the growth hormone, and are milked for longer periods of time than ever before. Their bodies werent meant to take it at all. The utters become sore, irritated, and infected, form lesions and blood and puss are pushed through into the milk.
Let me clear my throat
So this is a pretty hotly debated topic. I’ve been linked to from forums all over the place and there are people all over this issue. I’m going to split some hairs here, because I am seeing more and more evidence on RAW, unpasteurized milk being good for you, as the enzymes havent been removed and the fats havent been distorted. It’s actually the pasteurization process that turns milk in to something of the devil.
Pasteurized milk has been linked to a lot of health concerns as of recent, and unfortunately it’s not possible to buy unpasteurized milk in the stores.
Furthermore and coming back around
I am going to sit close to the fence on this one :) I realize you can’t please all of the people all of the time, but I will try. I DO NOT hate milk. I DO see some nutritional benefits of raw milk, but personally I will stick to almond milk myself. I’ve developed quite a taste for it. And as far as big business milk… well they can go away with the rest of big business food companies.

Its time to really start thinking about what we are eating and putting in our bodies.

was this just for me or what!!! lol
you know it!
If you must drink milk, there are some very good companies. Many of the so called “organic” brands are almost as bad as regular milk (like Horizon). But if you go for a small, local, organic brand you can know just what you are getting.
I get Farmers milk. http://www.farmersallnaturalcreamery.com/index.html. It is a Colorado product and not available everywhere. The cows are raised on small family farms, and free grazed during the growing season. It is non-homogenized (cream top), organic, all natural! And you can go take a tour of one of their farms if you want to. They only keep a small number of cows on a farm. I only really use milk in my coffee, but it is nice to know you are using a quality product.
This is a great site where they rate all the dairy companies based on farm size, hormone and antibiotic use, grazing practices, if they get milk from outside sources (factory farms) etc. http://www.cornucopia.org/dairysurvey/index.html. I try to stick with brands that get at least a 4. :)
Sweet! Thanks Elyse! That is some excellent info. I think everyone needs to make up their own minds, but, I do think they should know about things, and think about them.
Same thing with all the genetically modified foods, it’s insane what is going on without anyone knowing a thing. I’m not sure if its a general lack of caring, or what. People know they need to eat healthy, they know they need to exercise, but they flat out wont do either.
Keep the info coming!
Ugh… I would stumble on this while eating my Kashi cereal and milk… But- I was able to finish it anyway!
lol, oh gosh, sorry Kerry.
Who needs cow’s milk in this day and age???? Soymilk, Rice milk, Almond milk, Hemp milk….the choices go on and on! Would you drink the milk from a dog, cat or fox teets? Think it through, this is NOT natural!!!!
