Egg Whites: The Ideal Protein Supplement

eating-egg-whites

Body builders, dieters, and those who want to supplement protein in their diet should consider adding more egg protein. Protein from eggs is considered an ideal protein and is the measuring stick against which other proteins are evaluated, such as whey protein. The egg white is a rich storehouse for protein and contains just trace amounts of cholesterol and fat.

Eggs contain all the amino acids necessary for your body to effectively use the ingested protein. Egg protein and whey protein are both top performers as all the protein that you provide your body is used – there is no waste!

Depending on your location, or your finances, you may not be able to purchase whey protein. But, eggs can be found in every market and grocery store. Of course, you can also purchase egg protein powders.

Egg whites added to a blender drink are really not the best way to consume extra protein. The egg whites need to be cooked, which is safer, and the human body is better able to extract the protein from the cooked egg whites.

Studies have shown that consuming one egg a day will not predispose you to cardiovascular problems. While the yolk does contain about 2 grams of saturated fat, the balance are good fats your body needs. The yolk also supplies many nutrients not found, or just trace, in the egg white. So, go ahead and include at least one egg yolk when you make an omelet or other dish.

Easily boost your protein intake by adding more whites to a whole egg. For example, make a fluffy omelet with 1 whole egg and 3 egg whites. Each large whole egg supplies 6.3 grams of protein (3.6 white, 2.7 yolk). The 3 additional egg whites supply 10.8 grams of protein, and the total protein content is 17.1 grams of protein. Better yet, each egg white only adds 17 calories, so go ahead and use them liberally. Add a meat filling, and the protein in this one dish will skyrocket.

Here are a few ideas:

* Chopped egg whites over a chef salad with strips of lean turkey or chicken breast.
* Fluffy omelet with meat, low fat cheese or vegetable filling.
* Hard boiled eggs, without the yolk, cut into slices for snacks.
* Scramble 1 yolk and 3 whites with onion and low fat cheese (cook stove top or in microwave).
* Hard boiled eggs cut in half and the yolks removed. Add a low fat filling to the center.
* Egg salad made from hard boiled eggs (more whites) low fat mayonnaise and served atop crisp Romaine lettuce.

Egg whites are one of the most inexpensive, easy and convenient ways you can supplement protein in your diet and give your body more of what it needs to help build or tone muscles.

Beachbody Products | No Nonsense Marketing

One of the things that I really love about Beachbody products is the way they market them. I dont know if it’s because I’m blown out on advertising or I just get tired of companies thinking that I’m a moron, but the way Beachbody markets it’s products I enjoy.

Look at some of these pictures

It’s very simple, no nonsense kind of marketing.

One of my biggest marketing pet peevs out there is Axe. A guy sprays on some deodorant and then all of the sudden their is a flock of women tearing off his clothes. Now admittedly it’s for a younger generation, and that’s fine. But to me all it is saying is that our product doesnt stand on it’s own. We need flashy gimmicks to sell it to you.

I walk in to a GNC and I see products with explosive graphics, and names that make you think it will rip you out with one dose, which everyone knows (or should know) that will not happen.

Beachbody doesnt do that. It’s more like “Here is our well formulated product” and “Our product is good enough to stand on its own, without flashy gimmicks”.

I want to purchase products from a company that doesnt think I’m an idiot. I dont want to be sold on the advertising of the products, I want to be sold on the products themselves.

Just my two cents, I know I’m not the only one out there.
