Hey Shari! Well, I know people in their 80s doing P90X. And there is an awesome article on this 91 year old body builder. Check it out http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/2011/apr/02/i-am-a-90-year-old-bodybuilder

As far as aches and pains. You can try supplements, stretching, and seeing a dr.

Ultimately it's up to finding what works for you and what you will find you enjoy. :) And as always I totally recommend shakeology for the nutrition portion! There is also a new program coming out from Beachbody called Tai Cheng, i'd be happy to keep you up to date with info on it.

What can someone who is 70 do to change their dynamics? I have so many more aches and pains than I used to. I was trying zumba and enjoyed it but had to stop as it was killing my knees. I am back to walking 30 to 40 min a day on treadmill 3-4 times a week. Where do we older folks find the answer?

Love this article and have shared it on my FB pages - all really excellent advice, BUT you CANNOT physically "build muscle by converting it from fat" as you say. It is IMPOSSIBLE for fat to be CONVERTED into muscle! Muscle is muscle and fat is fat ... BUT by using all the tips in the article you CAN change the ratio and become leaner and more calorie-efficient.

Who needs cow's milk in this day and age???? Soymilk, Rice milk, Almond milk, Hemp milk....the choices go on and on! Would you drink the milk from a dog, cat or fox teets? Think it through, this is NOT natural!!!!

It was an experiment to challenge the way we think about food - the continuing low-fat obsession in particular. Haub also supplemented with protein shake and multivitamins being an important part of the diet. These prevent deficiency in the short term, but probably wouldn't be adequate longer term. The more I read about nutrition and metabolism, the more convinced I am that it's not WHAT IS IN 'junk' food that is the problem so much as WHAT IS NOT - and supplementing helps negate that problem. As I said, in the short term at least. Furthermore, studies are increasingly calling low fat diets into question, and this diet was high fat, and may have been beneficial for that very reason.

Haub also talks about the question of whether the fact of being in a state of weight loss, as opposed to weight gain (regardless of how that weight gain or loss is occuring) might be affecting the markers we measure.

This diet also looks low in dietary lectins; I'm not sure, but it looks like (with all the various fats and sugars!) that the intake of grain-based and especially wholegrain foods is relatively low, so that could have had some benefits in terms of gut health, inflammation and nutrient uptake.

What a great tip! Most restaurant portion sizes are way to much. Smaller meals are better for you digestive system anyway.

I am a huge fan of vitamin b12! They actually sell Shakeology at my gym, but never really thought much about it. I will for sure have to pick some up next time.

Thanks again!
