Do you want to be Old? Or do you want to be Older?
There is a difference in the two and it is almost a difference between life and death. In so many ways it is that difference. You know exactly what I’m talking about. You’ve seen them. You could know two different people that are 75. One doesnt move very much, doesnt have any hobbies, is waiting for the hand of fate to come. The other is getting out, doing things, being cantankerous.
If you didnt get a chance to see dancing with the stars last night, well, Buzz was on. That guy is 80 years old, doing the cha cha with a, well, I dont know how old she is, but wow was she smoking. If the rest of Buzz’s equipment was working… well anyway.
That’s exactly what I mean. The clock is ticking on all of us, but that doesnt mean we have to take a seat in the big ole comfy chair with a shaw and blankets even though its 85 degrees.
I want to get better with age. I want to be in better shape when I’m 40 than I am right now. Only one thing to do. Keep going. If we stop, then just move closer to getting old. Same thing works with our memories. If we stop making those neural connections, they stop growing (you need to read people, and be creative, and live).
It used to be the older I got, the older old seemed. Now, I know it’s in my hands when I turn old. What are you doing to help yourself?
