C. S. Lewis said, and I do paraphrase, that we often dont know we are going through change until after we’ve gone through it and look back. This weekend was one of those looking back times for me, and I was shocked and surprised.

I guess the first thing was with my mom and her having surgery. She had a torn meniscus in her right knee and had to have surgery. I went over to her house on Thursday night to help her with what she needed. Her and my step dad asked me to run up to Wendys and get them some food, 2 doubles, a large fry, and a large chili.  The first weird thing was that I hadnt been to a drive through in probably over a year. It was a bit different, but that wasnt too out of line. Then I got everything back to the house for them. That’s when things got weird. I watched them get everything out of the bags, and of course the bags were soaked with grease. I watched them unfold the burgers, watched them eat. All I could think was “What are you eating??”.

I pulled this from Wendys website real quick.

Recommended daily allowance for fat is 65 grams.

Recommended daily allowance for saturated fat is 18 grams.

I cant believe I never paid attention to this stuff.  But after changing my nutrition so much, just watching my folks eat that stuff made my stomach turn. I wanted to call out and tell them to stop. I was actual rather upset. Never in my life did I ever think I would be one of those people who tell other people they shouldnt eat this or that, but now, I see why. It’s just a matter of knowing some stuff is just crap to eat and caring about people.  It was definitely a moving moment for me.

Next up… I AM RUNNING A RACE.

The Thanksgiving Day Race in Cincinnati. It’s a 10k race, and well… I’m pretty stoked. I’ve never ran a race before in my life, but I think I’m up for the challenge. On Saturday I did Kenpo Cardio Plus followed by a 2 mile run.  I actually thought it was further, but after a bit of review, looks like it was only 2 miles!  I’m going for it and am excited about the experience!
